Sr. Molly Heine Makes Perpetual Vows

Sr. Molly Heine, made the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience - forever - as a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians. Surrounded by family, friends and the Sisters, Sr. Molly gave her "yes," for life, in the hands of Sr. Colleen Clair, Provincial of St. Joseph province. During the liturgy, Sr. Molly prostrated herself on the ground during the litany of Saints, asking all the faithful ones in heaven to intercede for her. This was followed by her recitation of the vows, the singing of her vows on the altar, and the prayer of consecration by Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney. Finally, she received a crown of roses symbolizing her unending belonging to Christ her bridegroom.

Below are her personal thoughts on the day:

Before the final profession Mass began, my heart was racing, not because I was scared but because I knew what I was about to do. I was so excited. After 10 years of formation I was finally about to join my life to Christ forever. As I professed the forever vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, I was surrounded by my Sisters, family, and friends. Looking at them, my heart was filled with so much joy and gratitude. In article 10 of our Salesian Sisters’ Constitutions, it says that each FMA makes her vows, “In communion with [her] Sisters.”

As I read that line as I professed my vows, I felt so much peace because I don’t live out my calling alone but with my Sisters united in Christ. I feel so loved and blessed that God has created me and called me to live out my life, with love, as a Salesian Sister with and for the young. I am reminded of the beautiful words found in the book of the prophet Isaiah, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine." - Isaiah 43:1
