From December 27 to 30, 2024 twenty-two Sisters from the North American Continent (NAC), perpetually professed for 6 to 14 years, participated in a formation gathering at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Newton, New Jersey. The theme of the gathering, “FMA of Hope,” centered on presentations exploring following Christ, community life and prayer, dreaming within our mission, and being “Rooted in the Covenant” with the plan of formation. The Sisters engaged in opportunities for sharing in both small and large groups, moments of Adoration and communal prayer, and festive recreation.
A highlight of the event was the opportunity for the Sisters, representing their provinces, to attend the opening Mass of the Jubilee Year at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson, New Jersey. They also visited the elderly Sisters at the Provincial House in Haledon, New Jersey, creating moments of connection and mutual joy.
This gathering was particularly meaningful as it allowed the Sisters to reunite with their Novice Directress, Sr. Joanne Holloman, who had accompanied all twenty-two Sisters during their formation. Memories and stories were shared, fostering a deeper sense of belonging to the Institute.
Reflecting on the experience, Sr. Theresa Khong (SUO) shared: “This gathering was a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with our Sisters, refresh our vocational commitment, and spend time strengthening our intimacy with Christ.”
