The 29th General Chapter of the Society of St. Francis de Sales (the Salesians of St. John Bosco) has elected their new Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard.
He is the 11th successor of Don Bosco, called to lead the Salesian Congregation and spread its charism in the service of young people, especially the poorest and most vulnerable, in 136 nations around the world.
The 220 provincials and delegates, gathered at the historic Mother House of Valdocco in Turin. After an intense journey of discernment, they chose Fr. Fabio Attard as Rector Major. Fr. Fabio will animate and govern a community composed of 13,750 consecrated members, organized into 92 provinces across five continents. He will also serve as head of the Salesian Family, of which the Salesian Sisters are an integral part. Congratulations to the new Rector Major!
