St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello “founded our Institute as a response of salvation to the profound hopes” and dreams of poor young people. (FMA Constitutions #1) They chose our namesake as Mary Help of Christians, and St. Francis de Sales and St. Theresa of Avila as our patrons. In this section, we would like to share a bit about each of these people – about our Founders and Patrons.
Overall, our Saints and Patrons represent some of the greatest virtues our faith has to offer us.
- Mary Help of Christians has been the great protector of the Church
- St. John Bosco demonstrated extreme charity for the young and the poor.
- St. Mary Mazzarello was a woman of deep humility.
- St. Teresa of Avila was a woman of deep faith.
- St. Francis de Sales showed us how to live gentleness.
